Introduction

We have tried to make dealing with Sterling online as easy as possible. However, we are just at the end of the phone if you need any assistance or find difficulties expressing your wishes using the standard forms.

Our online process is quite simple. You just need to complete the appropriate application to start the process and we do the rest. Buying online however, does require some thought and you should consider thoroughly whether you wish to bypass the advice process before you proceed.

If you decide to purchase a product online you need to decide for yourself whether a particular investment portfolio and/or product is suitable to your circumstances. Clearly you need to have a good understanding of investments and products in general before you buy. You are also encouraged to carry out your own independent research.

A few things you should know: -

When you complete an online application to purchase a product this merely serves as an instruction for Sterling to prepare the necessary paperwork for you to proceed. As detailed on the system, there is a minimum combined account balance of £10,000 for the SIPP, ISA and/or Investment Account. You need to be investing or transferring a minimum of this amount in total. It could for example be made up of £2,000 in an ISA, £1,000 in an Investment Fund Account and £7,000 in a SIPP.

On receipt of your online application, Sterling opens an account with Standard Life for you. We will write to you with the requirements that need to be met in order for you to proceed.

This will include Standard Life’s terms and conditions and may also involve a letter of authority in order for us to approach your existing providers to arrange a transfer if requested.

You are under no obligation to proceed until you have signed Standard Life’s terms and conditions and returned the paperwork to us along with the relative payment (either cheque or transfer instruction). Upon receipt of the documentation we will validate your account.

We never handle clients money. Your account with Standard Life will be linked back to your personal bank account and any future investment or withdrawals will take place between you and Standard Life.

Sterling Financial Services are not responsible for the suitability of a particular investment or product to your circumstances. We are responsible to ensure that the information contained on this website is fair, current, correct and not in anyway misleading.

You must be comfortable that the suitability of what you buy has been determined by yourself. If you are at all unsure please contact us or an alternative regulated financial adviser for advice.

Some of the investments held in the specialist sector are of a high risk nature and you should satisfy yourself that you fully understand the implications of investing is such funds before you proceed.
